3 days Visit of commandery 897 EKETE to Capt (Dr) Izuchukwu Obani at his village residence in Aboh Mbaise Imo State Nigeria
MOST POWERFUL VISIT OF COMM 897 WARRI AND AUX 786 TO DR. IZUCHUKWU OBANI IN MBAISE
On the weekend of 3rd August 2025, St Peter’s Commandery 897 Warri and Our Lady Queen of Peace Auxiliary 786, Warri Grand, Delta State Nigeria, undertook a remarkable and pioneering fraternal initiative. The members, led by General Paulinus Evwierhoma (Charter Worthy President, former Benin Grand President and Warri Grand President), journeyed to Mbaise for the maiden edition of a new annual tradition—visiting their members in their home villages while alive, not only during burials.
The focus of this year’s historic visit was Dr. Izuchukwu Obani, a distinguished member, first Vice President of Commandery 897, Worthy President Elect, initiator of the programme, and Grand Master of the Archbishop EKPU Chapter of Chevaliers. The delegation of about 24 knights and ladies spent the weekend at his country home in Ibeku Aboh Mbaise LGA, enjoying warm hospitality, rich camaraderie, and a spirit of fraternity that strengthened bonds within the Order.
Throughout the stay, the group prayed, socialised, and shared meals in an atmosphere of joy and unity. A highlight of the outing was the celebration of Mass as a group at St Anthony’s Parish, Ibeku Okwuato, where they supported the parish generously with ₦997,000 (nine hundred and ninety-seven thousand naira).
As part of the itinerary, the team also made brief courtesy stopovers—notably at the home of Noble Lady Prof. Viola Onwuliri, PSSAP (former Minister of Foreign Affairs), who graciously received them, hosted them with a rich buffet of delicacies, and joined in prayers at the graveside chapel of the late SSP General Prof. Onwuliri. They also extended greetings to other notable personalities in Owerri, including Prof. Ikechukwu Dozie, Vice Chancellor of K.O. Mbadiwe University.
Other prominent members of KSJI in attendance included Col. Michael Bobolo (SSB Edo-Delta ASSIG), Col. Anthony Ariagbobe (District XVI Commander) with his Adjutant Capt. Elvis Akalusi, as well as Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Ashiegbu, who provided pastoral guidance and heard confessions throughout the three-day trip.
This initiative—conceived by Dr. Obani—marks the beginning of an enduring tradition where members of Commandery 897 and Auxiliary 786 will, year after year, visit and spend time with fellow knights and ladies in their home towns, celebrating life and fraternity in Christ.
The visit to Dr. Izuchukwu Obani’s Mbaise home thus stands as a landmark in the life of the Commandery and Auxiliary, setting a noble example for others within the Order across Nigeria.
To God be the glory.
